Samantha was raised in Jamaica by her grandmother. She was subjected to bullying throughout primary and secondary school. She mentioned that it got so bad that one girl hit her with a shoe, leaving her badly bruised. Samantha was determined not to let the bullies hold her back.
At age 17 she moved to London, and enrolled with us at Lambeth College. She became the first female president of our Student Union and continued to achieve a triple distinction in her Applied Sciences BTEC.
Samantha continued her educational journal at the University of Surrey and completed her degree this year. She has now been accepted to do a PhD at Birkbeck University.
We are hugely proud of everything Samantha has accomplished and we are delighted that we played a part in her educational journey. We wish her continual success for her future.
Samantha's final comments before the digital prom - "It been hard finishing a degree in this Covid-19 situation - you have to be very strong. I think the night will be about feeling special and appreciated, while being around other students who have been in similar situations. It could even be an opportunity to meet new friends." We couldn't agree more!
Congratulations and well done to Samantha, and to the class of 2020!
