College Digital Systems – Help and Access

South Bank Colleges want every student to feel confident using digital tools as part of their education. This guide explains the main systems you’ll use at college and how to get help if you need it.

Essential Digital Skills Courses

All vocational students are automatically enrolled in one of three courses to help develop their digital skills. These are nationally recognised RARPA qualifications:

  1. Being a Digital Citizen
  2. Digital Employability and Wellbeing
  3. Digital Learning

These courses teach you how to use technology safely and effectively in education and work.

Main Platforms You’ll Use

Here are the platforms and systems you’ll regularly use at South Bank Colleges: Login for all of these: Use your allocated student login and your password (go to the library/digital spine for help if you are unsure what this is).

  • Moodle: This is the main hub for your course materials, support resources, and other tools. You can also access a form here to get help with personal issues outside the college.

  • Microsoft Teams: This is used for live online lessons, class discussions, and sharing files. If you don’t see your class team, ask your teacher for help.

  • Office 365: Provides tools like Word, Excel, OneDrive (for file storage), and your college email (Outlook).

Other Platforms

Some classes may use other online tools like Padlet or Google Classrooms. Your teacher will let you know if you need to use these.

Getting Started

To access these systems, you’ll need to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your mobile phone. This adds extra security when logging in.

If you need help setting up or resetting your student login, visit the college library or digital spine during opening hours.

Printing and WiFi

  • Printing: College computers are linked to printers for both black-and-white and colour printing. You can also use them to photocopy or scan documents.
  • WiFi: Connect to eduRoam or SBC Student using your student login and password.

Digital Policy and Support

  • Digital Policy: You can find information about the college’s digital policy, including the use of Artificial Intelligence, in the course handbook and on the Moodle Digital Skills page.
  • Turnitin Help: Guidance on using Turnitin is also available on the Moodle Digital Skills page.

If you ever need extra support with digital platforms, visit the Digital Skills page on Moodle for guides, ICT support, and study resources.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask for help. The library team and your teachers are here to support you.
