Five staff members from Money Supermarket Group hopped on the Tube to South London to get involved and share their experience. The young people already had a two week work placement under their belt but many didn’t have any direct work experience. The day focused on encouragement and building confidence, with lots of energetic discussion and the volunteers were challenged to think about what had helped them to get their first job. They also shared their thoughts and experience of the skills that can help build a career, and what kind of soft skills and qualities recruiters can look for.
The Brixton 13 then made a return journey north of the river to Dean Street where the interview preparation tips they had learned helped them during a session hosted by the Product Team, focusing on interview skills and actual interview practice in a real working environment. 29 team members hosted mock interviews for a pretend Team Coordinator position where they encouraged the participants, helping them prepare for their first real interview that will be just around the corner.
