The programme aims to encourage young people to view apprentices as a credible career choice and will provide current vacancies through Lambeth College's apprenticeship advisory and recruitment service in partnership with local and national employers.
'Apprentice ambassadors' will become role models for apprentices, sharing their own experiences of earning and learning to 17 Lambeth schools and Lambeth College students this Thursday 9 March at the Lambeth Apprenticeship Ambitions Conference at The Kia Oval in London.
The ambassadors will make presentations to their peers and talk about their experience in transitioning from education to the work environment through apprenticeships.
Later this year, the ambassadors will run a suite of events including an apprenticeship road show reaching out to Lambeth schools, the College and youth provision centres from April to June and the Big Careers and Apprenticeship Day on 4 July.
The LAAP is assisting the government in reaching its target of 3 million apprentices by 2020.
Lambeth College Apprenticeship Director, Ruth Smith said, "Following the successful launch of the Lambeth apprenticeship programme last year, we are pleased to welcome LSBU into the scheme which extends the apprenticeship offer from traineeships and apprenticeships to degree level. The Lambeth apprenticship agenda supports our mission of a career ready college."
