The Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning will build upon your existing knowledge and help you to develop an in-depth understanding of the theoretical knowledge, and practical skills, you need for a career working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. This qualification has an additional focus on working in roles that offer specialist support for pupils' learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.
You will learn about a variety of topics, including children and young people's development; safeguarding young learners; health and safety in a school setting; promoting an effective learning environment; supporting positive behaviour in children and young people; maintaining relationships with children and young people; and increasing your understanding of schools and colleges as organisations.
Alongside the traditional aspects of educational support, you will also develop specialist support skills, including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher; bilingual support; supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs; and personal development and reflective practice.
