What programme did you join at Lambeth College and why?
Small Business Management & Administration to learn more about the theory of business. I was already running a business from home, so already had 'practice’.
How would you describe your overall experience at the College?
Great! I made new friends (who I am still in touch with now). I made great contacts in teachers and other staff members. I learned a lot and wanted to learn more. It lead me to go to university (first gen!).
Tell us about your career journey after Lambeth College.
I went to Birkbeck and did a Business degree. Went to UAL to study Fashion Business. Worked at UAL for 7 years after.
How has your time at the College contributed to your career/current role?
It kept me on the path of business. I have a diploma in Small Business Management & Administration, a Fashion Business diploma and a Business degree. I am proud of my journey - going back to school at 30 and not feeling any shame to study with so many young people.
What was special about your time at Lambeth College? Could you give an example of your most memorable moment?
- Winning the ‘Most Outstanding Student’ award. Still one of my fondest awards to date
- Lambeth College asking me to deliver sessions to students. I did quite a few.
Any words of advice to students thinking about studying at Lambeth College?
Do it and make the most of it. Make friends, network, take advantage of all the resources, get educated (not distracted), stay connected when you leave.
Why did you decide to take on the 7 students from the college to do an industry placement?
I had to support a college that I am attached too. I always wanted to it. It’s my company ethos to ‘help improve employment’. We support locals institutions. I knew it would be valuable to students.
